Parent Partnerships

Children thrive when parents are involved in our setting!

" We all had such fun when one mummy came to visit us to do a nursery rhyme and song session ….. in Italian!"

Parent Partnerships

We see parents as a child’s first educator and value building strong, happy relationships with our children and families! By working in partnership, we can enable all children to create meaningful connections to their wider world and to foster a love of learning.

As part of this, we also offer regular opportunities to involve families in nursery life. We have enjoyed some wonderful Stay and Play sessions, Grandparents Play Days, SEND coffee morning, parents shared story and song (sometimes in different languages!), parents’ evenings and small circle times to share with the children about the amazing jobs you do. We have even had a Daddy doing some super science experiments!  These sessions are always so delightful and the children are so proud to have their families in nursery with them and their friends!

We have an open door policy for any parent who wishes to discuss anything with us at any time, so please feel free to call in and see us!

Monthly Newsletters and Noticeboards

Each month, parent newsletters are shared detailing nursery events and celebrations, special days, curriculum topics, our approach and curriculum and general signposting to information for parents from safe sleep advice or staying safe online to applying for a school place.

Copies of this are emailed to parents and a hard copy of the current newsletter always kept in our reception area.   In addition, our notice boards also located in the reception area, contain key information for parents and details of where to locate our policies and procedures.

Parents Evenings and Stay and Plays

We love inviting parents into the nursery and have regular parents’ evenings which give an opportunity to meet with the child’s key person and discuss their interests and progress.  This is a lovely way for parents to come into the nursery, experience first-hand our nursery environment sand spend time with the team.  We also have Stay and Play sessions where parents are invited to come along and join in with typical activities with their child at nursery which have been very popular.  We recently extended this to wider family members including grandparents which was a great success.

Parent Talks

We also invite parents to come in and share information about their jobs with the children.  We have been lucky enough to have parents who did amazing talks on being a nurse, doctor, dentist, firefighter, and scientist!!  The children love hearing from different people and getting sparks of inspiration about jobs they could well decide to pursue themselves in the future.

Parent Feedback

We actively seek parent feedback after many of our initiatives and events that we do such as our parents’ evenings, our annual Graduation to School Ceremonies and our stay and plays with a view to continually improving them for the future.  We even ask our parents after each of our menu reviews to provide us with their ‘Family Favourites’ which are recipes they have in their family which we could use when we change our menu next time.  We have had some lovely recipes provided to us which have featured for the children at nursery!
